Clinical Study of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Outpatients at Wonkwang Neuropsychiatric Hospital

Abstract
|
|
|
This is a retrospective study on clinical features of 655 child and adolescent patients less than 18 who were visited Wonkwang Neuropsychiatric Hospital for the first time during the past 4 years from March 1 of 1988 to February 29 of 1992.
@ES This study revealed as follows:
@EN 1. Of all the new patients children and adolescents were 12.0%.
2. Of all the child and adolescent new patients male patients were 61.5% and female were 38.9%. Sex ratio for male and female was 1.6:1. In less than 6, sex ratio for male and female was 2.3:1.
3. Most of them (88.2%) resided in Iri, Iksan, Kimje, Cheonju, Kunsan and Okgu in Cheonbug.
4. The diagnostic proportion was revealed in order as follows: epilocpsy (15.4%) somatoform disorder(11.6%, mental retar dation(8.7%), adjustment disorder(7.9%), pervasive develop mental disorder(7.0%), schizophrenia(4.7%) and etc.
5. Male children and adolescents with pervasive developmental disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and conduct disorder were significantly more than female.
6. Child and adolescent patients were accompanied by mother (55.9%), father(15.9%) and both parents(19.8%) on the first visit. Sum of the above cases were 91.6%.
7. The number of visiting the outpatient clinic was follows: one time is 54.8% ; two times, 19.5% ; three times, 5.3% ; four times and over, 20.4%; three times and below, 79.6%. The number of three times and below(79.6%) was significantly higher
than
four times and over(20.4%).
8. 82.9% of all the child and adolescent new patients had only OPD treatment and 17.1% had another admission treatment. In OPD treatment, the patients who had psychosocial treatment were significantly more than the patients who had psychosocial
treatment and drug treatment. In admission treatment, the patients who had additional drug treatment were significantly more than the patients who had only psychosocial treatment.
